Role Overview:
As an Associate Software Engineer at Optum, you’ll join an agile team responsible for building and maintaining enterprise-grade software. In this role, you’ll contribute to various stages of the software development lifecycle, including development, testing, and optimization. You’ll work on tasks related to ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes and software systems that support Optum’s mission to enhance healthcare services.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Follow a structured, standard approach to project work and coding practices.
- Collaborate with teams to design, develop, implement, and test software systems.
- Engage in debugging, standards evaluation, and documentation.
- Contribute to developing organizational efficiencies through automation and the development of reusable tools.
- Participate in analysis, research, and development of new tools and technologies.
- Support operational tasks to ensure the high-quality delivery of software applications, products, and services.
Required Qualifications:
- Education: Undergraduate degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in Python and familiarity with Python libraries such as Pandas, NumPy, and SQLAlchemy.
- Experience with Python testing frameworks, such as unittest or pytest.
- Knowledge of databases like MS SQL and MySQL.
- Exposure to technologies like Kafka and Airflow.
