Key Responsibilities

As a Software Engineer at Zelis, you will:

  • Design & Develop: Build scalable, high-performance features for Zelis’s healthcare finance platform using cutting-edge technologies.

  • Collaborate Cross-Functionally: Work closely with Product Managers, QA Engineers, and UX Designers to deliver solutions that meet client needs.

  • Maintain & Optimize: Diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve production issues; continually improve existing codebase and infrastructure.

  • Ensure Quality: Write clean, maintainable code and participate in code reviews, automated testing, and CI/CD pipeline processes.

  • Stay Up-to-Date: Keep abreast of emerging healthcare regulations, industry trends, and best practices in software development.

Required Qualifications

  • Educational Background: Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related discipline.

  • Programming Skills: Proficiency in one or more of the following:

    • Java (preferred)

    • C# / .NET

    • Python

  • Web Technologies: Familiarity with HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript/TypeScript, and at least one modern front-end framework (e.g., Angular, React, or Vue).

  • Database Knowledge: Hands-on experience with relational databases (e.g., Oracle, MySQL, PostgreSQL) and basic SQL proficiency.

  • Version Control: Comfortable using Git (branching strategies, pull requests, merging).

  • Problem-Solving: Strong analytical mindset, attention to detail, and ability to work independently or as part of a team.

Preferred Skills & Experience

  • Cloud Platforms: Experience with AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform (GCP).

  • Healthcare Domain: Understanding of healthcare finance, claims processing, EDI, or related healthcare standards (e.g., HIPAA, X12).

  • Agile Methodologies: Prior exposure to Scrum, Kanban, or other iterative development processes.

  • DevOps / CI-CD: Familiarity with Jenkins, GitLab CI, Docker, Kubernetes, or similar tools.

  • Testing Frameworks: Experience with JUnit, TestNG, or Selenium for automated unit and integration testing.
