About the Role – Integration Engineer

The Integration Engineer will play a key role in managing and streamlining merchant integrations — whether it’s service APIs, file transfers, or SQL queries. This role is a perfect blend of technical troubleshooting, client interaction, and system integration.

You will be the bridge between merchants and PhonePe’s robust tech infrastructure, ensuring that their integration is smooth, scalable, and secure.

Key Responsibilities

  • Interact with Product and Tech teams to understand various product workflows.

  • Engage with merchant tech/business teams to align integration goals.

  • Troubleshoot, research, and resolve integration issues.

  • Implement merchant-specific solutions using APIs and SQL queries.

  • Own production issues end-to-end — diagnose, fix, and prevent recurrence.

  • Automate processes to enhance integration quality and speed.

  • Ensure clean, well-tested, and scalable code adhering to PhonePe’s best practices.

Skills & Requirements

  • 1+ year of experience in Java development.

  • Good understanding of REST APIs and ability to develop/integrate with them.

  • Strong knowledge of OOP concepts.

  • Basic familiarity with MySQL or relational databases.

  • Self-starter with high ownership and commitment to timelines.

  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
