Role Overview:
The Cloud Support Associate Engineer will play a critical role in providing support for Canonical’s Ubuntu and other open-source products, serving customers across the full cloud technical stack. This position is ideal for individuals passionate about Linux, open source, and cloud technologies, offering hands-on experience in tackling complex cloud issues and providing outstanding technical support.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver technical support to employees remotely from a home-based office.
- Handle support cases, ensuring compliance with SLAs and customer satisfaction.
- Act as a customer advocate, maintaining timely communication and updates.
- Draft knowledge base articles, technical notices, and participate in ongoing learning.
- Collaborate regularly with the team, locally and remotely, to maintain alignment.
- Participate in a rotating weekend work schedule and occasional travel for team events.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in a technical field (e.g., Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, MIS).
- Technical Skills:
- Experience with Linux troubleshooting, including log collection, configuration file adjustments, and Linux server administration.
- Proficiency in cloud computing concepts, virtualization, containers, and storage technologies.
- Familiarity with scripting and programming in languages such as bash, Perl, Ruby, JavaScript, C/C++, or Go.
- Understanding of networking and virtualization technologies, like KVM, VMWare, and cloud providers.
- Soft Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, customer-centric approach, quick learning ability, and adaptability.
Preferred Experience:
- Supporting virtualized environments and other open-source desktop technologies.
- Contributing to open-source forums or projects.
