Overview
Join Microsoft’s Azure Data team as a Research Sciences Intern to contribute to transforming analytics and operational databases. The team leads innovation in databases, data integration, big data analytics, and AI-enabled systems for real-world challenges.
In this role, you’ll have the opportunity to collaborate with leading researchers, work on cutting-edge solutions, and contribute to the future of database systems, particularly by integrating AI, Large Language Models (LLMs), and Machine Learning into database platforms.
Key Responsibilities
- Work with engineers and researchers to solve challenging research problems in database systems and AI integration.
- Develop and implement prototypes of scalable systems in advanced RAG (Retrieval Augmented Generation) systems.
- Collaborate across teams to deliver innovative solutions for large-scale, real-world applications.
- Present research findings and contribute to top-tier publications.
- Actively participate in the vibrant research community at Microsoft IDC.
Qualifications
Required
- Currently enrolled in a PhD program in Computer Science or a related STEM field.
Preferred
- Experience in building scalable data systems or leveraging LLMs/Machine Learning for large-scale data applications.
- Demonstrated ability to develop original research agendas.
- Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills, with the ability to work across diverse teams and cultures.
- Creative problem-solving skills to derive innovative solutions.
